For the first 29 years of my life I lived another life. One I thought I needed to live to make others comfortable. I was ashmed of my sexuality because of what society and church taught me about being gay. I was terrified as a child to go to sleep at night out of fear. Growing up I was different than everyone else. No one knew this however I did. It was me to struggle with depression and addiction. Five years ago I made a choice to take a chance and come out gay. I have been sober since. I finally lost the need to cover who I was with substances. My life today is so free. I love myself and am comfortable with who I am. It was hard at first as I lost a lot of people who were dear to my heart. Your music helped me through some of my darkest times. Especially your song You are the Reason. This song played when I was thinking of leaving this world because of the shame I had buried for so long. That song helped me realize I needed to be strong for my son. My life is so much different then I had ever expected. It's because of people like you that get vulnerable that help people like me. Meeting you was at vans store in Portland Oregon was a dream come true for me. You have touched my heart in such a deep intimate way. Thank you for being you Calum. Love always Conner.
